IT Security Officer

We are delighted to be able to recruit IT Security Officer into our Digital Infrastructure Service (DIS). We are looking for passionate, problem-solving individual eager to develop their skills in a dynamic environment.

In this role, you will play a crucial part in supporting the University's Strategy 2030 by securing its digital infrastructure. You will be responsible for managing, developing, and administering IT security systems and processes to maintain the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of Cardiff Met’s digital services and data.

 

You’ll lead the way by:

  • Acting as the technical architect for Cardiff Met’s IT security systems.
  • Configuring and administer security technologies.
  • Taking ownership of resolving complex cyber security issues.
  • Playing a pivotal role in the IT Security Incident Response Team.
  • Collaborating with departments to promote IT security initiatives.
  • Leading security audits, scans, and penetration tests to mitigate vulnerabilities.
  • Researching and recommending cutting-edge security practices and technologies.


What you’ll bring 

You will bring excellent written and verbal communication skills, experienced in stakeholder engagement, and a thorough understanding of network technologies, firewalls, and vulnerability scans. You will be a team player who can also work independently, delivering projects aligned with Strategy 2030. 

Additionally, you’ll have:

  • Excellent overall knowledge of IT Security and technologies and their application in a corporate network environment.
  • Knowledge of IT service provision with awareness of implications of changes and upgrades.
  • Wide range of technical expertise and ability to adapt this quickly to meet new requirements.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with a logical approach to complex technical challenges
  • A customer-centric mindset, with the ability to work under pressure and make analytical decisions.
  • Experience in supporting and designing infrastructures or server-based systems, planning and coordinating technical implementation, and responding to cyber incidents.
