Student Ambassadors - Discover Economics

This opportunity is only open to current Economics students at Cardiff Met.

We’re looking for enthusiastic students to join our Ambassador Team to facilitate student outreach activities in Economics. These Student Ambassadors will work specifically for Cardiff Metropolitan University in representing the University in immersive activities in Economics in local schools facilitated by the Discover Economics campaign by the Royal Economic Society. 

The role also involves working in schools and colleges across Wales to support sessions to inspire students in Economics into further study at university. They will work with our Academic Champions, Student Recruitment and Outreach teams. Teams across the university also use student ambassadors for admin roles periodically throughout the year.

Being a Student Ambassador allows students to develop skills such as communication, leadership, and teamwork as well as meeting and working with other students and staff across the university.

 

What you’ll do – key duties

  • Be an active/flexible member of the recruitment/events/widening access teams independently or along with other students and members of staff.
  • Visit schools/colleges in Wales as directed and assist with talks/presentations where necessary. It may be required, on occasion, to attend events in other areas of the UK.
  • Assist with Open Days/School Visit Days/ interactive workshops with participants/events such as welcome week)/ Reaching Wider Programmes/Summer School.
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of the university and the services/facilities available to students.
  • Attendance at staff development/training as required appropriate to the event.
  • Undertake other duties as deemed appropriate by the relevant officer
  • To carry out any other duties as part of the student recruitment activities as may be required by Marketing, Communications and Student Recruitment Staff.
  • Represent Cardiff Metropolitan University at Higher Education fairs around the UK as directed.

What you’ll bring 

  • You will be an enthusiastic and friendly with excellent communication and interpersonal skills coupled with a commitment to providing an excellent student experience.
  • You will have sound economics training at least at level 4 at a University level.

What you’ll have - essential qualifications

  • Highly literate and numerate. Good skills in Microeconomics and Macroeconomics and current economic affairs. Currently studying in Cardiff Metropolitan University.
