Campus Protection Services Control Room Operator

To help achieve our goals, we’re looking for Campus Protection Control Room Operators to provide a compassionate, proactive and dynamic campus protection service to staff, students and visitors alike at Cardiff Metropolitan University.  You will be front and centre dealing with a wide variety of issues impacting the operations of the University and your empathetic and caring attitude will be forefront in your duties.  You will be the face of Cardiff Metropolitan University to those in need and will be experienced in dealing with challenging scenarios with an eye for people at the centre of any response.

 

You’ll play a key by

  • Ensuring the well-being of staff, students and visitors to campus and to assist those in need.
  • Directions of measures concerning new legislation, specifically evacuation, invacuation, lockdown and communication procedures. 
  • Monitoring the security of the campus using CCTV/digital surveillance equipment.
  • Responding promptly to any alarm activation and co-ordinate responses with representatives at the scene. 
  • Utilising technical platforms to provide intelligence on threats posed to the university community. 


What you’ll bring 

We are looking for someone who will demonstrate high levels of integrity and reliability coupled with excellent customer service skills.  You will routinely dealing with people in need and will need to ensure a flexible approach to all duties.  We need you to:

  • Project a professional, calm image. 
  • Be able to act on own initiative in case of an emergency.  
  • Be capable of completing/updating incident reports in a timely manner under pressure. 
  • Have excellent communication skills.
