Principal duties and responsibilities
You will be required to make a significant contribution to the delivery of our taught portfolio contributing to ITE programmes and other areas of our core curriculum depending on your areas of expertise and experience.
Enthusiastic about student-centred pedagogy, you will contribute to education delivery, including programme management as required, across the range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. You will also make a significant contribution to employability, and professional engagement with relevant internal and external organisations, at a regional, national and international level.
Fractional contracts (e.g. 2 X 0.5) will be considered.
What we are looking for
- An in-depth knowledge of specialist subject and professional area.
- An in-depth understanding of pedagogy.
- An in-depth understanding of research/enterprise and scholarly activity.
- Ability to design, develop and deliver a range of programmes at various levels.
- Ability to review programme design on a regular basis to ensure compliance with quality standards and academic regulations and to make alterations where appropriate.
- Ability to contribute to the achievement of the School Development Plan and the institutions strategic planning processes.
- Ability to develop research objectives, prepare proposals, carry out independent research, referee and contribute to peer assessment.
- Ability to identify opportunities for strategic development/improvement e.g. research projects, new courses, consultancy.
- Ability to identify (through the analysis of appropriate management information) areas requiring improved performance e.g. student numbers, student satisfaction.
- Experience of HE teaching or equivalent.
- Experience of providing academic leadership and first line support/mentoring for other colleagues.
- Experience of engaging in pedagogic and practitioner research.
- A good honours degree.
- Doctoral qualification or equivalent professional experience.
You will be an enthusiastic and friendly professional with excellent communication and interpersonal skills coupled with a commitment to providing an excellent student experience. An established or promising research profile and very good teaching experience on relevant programmes is essential.
