Governance Manager

An opportunity has arisen to take on a role that will have an immediate and visible impact in the heart of the university’s governance structure. Working directly with the University Secretary you will be responsible for delivery of a number of critical governance projects and activities as well as helping to ensure that the business-as-usual committee service operates effectively. This role will involve exposure to the senior decision-making bodies including the Board of Governors and the Executive Group. 

The role is available immediately and will run until end of August 2026. External secondments will be considered. 


What you’ll bring

Working directly for the University Secretary you will bring experience of excellent service delivery and expert governance knowledge, using your drive and initiative to:

  • Coordinate the University’s preparations for registration with our new regulator Medr, including reporting on progress to committees and drafting policies; 
  • Lead a number of procurement exercises (including appointment of the internal auditor) and support implementation/onboarding following the outcomes;
  • Support delivery of a series of governance/Board committee reviews (including the mandatory external governance effectiveness review), carrying out appropriate consultation and ensure that outcomes align and impacts are understood and planned for;
  • Provide interim leadership for the governance team.
