Technician Demonstrator Biomechanics

As a Technical Demonstrator (Biomechanics), you will support the activities in the sport biomechanics labs. You will provide technical support for learning and teaching and research and innovation. You will ensure the labs are set up and the equipment is maintained and serviced. You will be responsible for health and safety, purchasing and other lab administration.

You’ll support by: 

  • Advising and supporting academic and research staff and students on the use and application of techniques, equipment and processes.
  • Supporting the delivery of practical and seminar sessions which have been planned by academic staff.
  • Advising on the purchase of new equipment and required maintenance of existing equipment. 
  • Ensuring health and safety is maintained across all teaching and research activities.  


What you’ll bring

With knowledge of sport and exercise sciences, and in particular sport biomechanics, you will bring your experience of using laboratory equipment to support lab activities. You will use your enthusiasm and professionalism to communicate effectively with technical and academic colleagues and students. 

Additionally you’ll: 

  • hold a degree in sport and exercise science, biomechanics, engineering or another relevant discipline
  • You will bring experience and expertise with scientific laboratory equipment including calibration procedures and minor maintenance
  • use your experience of computer hardware and software for data collection (Vicon Nexus, CodaMotion, Qualysis, or similar) and data analysis (Visual 3D, Matlab)
