Senior Governance Officer

Good governance supports the university to succeed and is critical to maintain the trust and confidence of the regulators and the public. Our role in the Secretariat supports the Board of Governors and the university executive to make informed and compliant decisions. 

Reporting to the Head of Governance and Assurance you will provide professional governance advice and administrative support to the University’s committees including the Board of Governors and its sub-committees. You will ensure that the governance framework is up to date and fit for purpose and proactively work on improving delivery and development of all governance procedures and systems.

Based on the Llandaff campus but with the ability to work flexibly, you will work collegiately with colleagues across the university to deliver an excellent service.


What you’ll bring

We are looking for an enthusiastic and organised governance professional, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, who is happy to use technology to improve our ways of working. You will have a degree or equivalent and experience of servicing formal boards or committees, including planning successful meetings and drafting clear and accurate minutes.

Additionally you’ll bring knowledge of:  

  • UK and Welsh higher education and charity governance
  • records management principles, retention schedules and archiving practices
