Risk and Resilience Manager
The Secretariat supports the governing body and the university executive to make informed decisions within a defined governance framework. We provide specialist advice and develop best practice in governance, compliance, risk and assurance.
This role will provide specialist expertise and be responsible for management of the University’s risk register and business continuity policies, processes and testing activities. Reporting initially to the University Secretary, the role will directly support the Executive and senior staff in identifying, understanding and describing risks and recording associated mitigations. The role will support the Audit Committee and the Board of Governors in monitoring changes to the risks, conducting deep dive reviews and providing assurance that the system of risk management and business continuity is robust.
Based on the Llandaff campus but with the ability to work flexibly, you will work collegiately with colleagues across the University enabling a coordinated approach to risk management and business continuity planning; providing advice on policy, procedure and implementation.
What you’ll bring
We are looking for an enthusiastic professional with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and who is happy to use technology to improve our ways of working. You will have a first degree or equivalent, experience of risk management and an understanding of business continuity planning in the HE environment.
Additionally you’ll:
- Bring Knowledge of the typical HE operating environment and awareness of the types of strategic and operational risks that an HE institution is likely to face.
- Have experience of applying or developing risk management methodologies and processes, working with senior staff to appropriately describe and assess strategic risks and identify mitigations.
- Be able to promote effective co-operative working relationships across an organisational structure.
- Be able to command the confidence and respect of senior colleagues.
